The company introduced a series of information systems with the aim to construct a project of the highest quality standards. Although the information technology market can offer a variety of solutions in the field of motorway construction and operation, an internal company mechanism for the development of software packages and tailor-made applications was considered necessary for the optimum use of the information system investments made by the company.
A massive investment was made in basic informatics infrastructure systems (administrative systems), such as financial management, human resources management, project management, project control, CAD systems, GIS applications, highways design software, RMMS. A similar investment was made in SCADA systems for tunnels and TMS. The System Development Department undertook the development of special applications for the issuance of permit for motorway use, the management of road defects, the recording of road incidents, the management of procurement, the certification of consultancy works. The operation of toll stations and Service Areas along the motorway will result in new requirements for toll collection and revenue management systems.
The company data center can host and safely manage large volumes of data, which are maintained in high-availability databases. The Information Technology Directorate Helpdesk provides a wide range of support services in all possible fields of company activity.
Access to remote points is achieved through a Virtual Private Network (VPN), which comprises wireless connections with the mountainous regions of Epirus and Western Macedonia for the interface between different Tunnel Control Centres. The installation of a fibre optics network along the motorway will create a high-speed backbone network that will allow the development of broadband services for use both by the company and other bodies.
