In accordance with Greek Legislation (Law 2472/97 on the "Protection of Individuals with regard to the Processing of Personal Data", as currently enforced) and the decisions of the Hellenic Data Protection Authority, the audio and video data acquired (on a permanent, continuous or regular basis) through Closed Circuit Television Systems (CCTV) constitute personal data.
The capture (on a permanent, continuous or regular basis) and processing of such data without the data subject' s consent is, by dispensation, lawful under the conditions set out in Law Ν.2472/1997, provided that the purpose of processing is either the protection of persons and/or goods, and/or the regulation of traffic.
CCTV image capturing, even if data are neither stored nor further processed, does not relieve the Controller of his/her obligation to notify the Authority and inform the public accordingly, in accordance with articles 6 and 11 of Law 2472/1997.
PURPOSE
The purpose of using CCTV cameras for video recording certain Egnatia Motorway sections is:
the regulation of traffic,
the protection of users and the road operation and maintenance personnel
the protection of goods (road infrastructure, etc)
Data recording is not performed on a continuous basis. What is recorded are incidents or emergencies that occur on difficult Egnatia Motorway road sections. These CCTV cameras do not support audio recording features.
MANAGEMENT
The management and protection of the data collected by the CCTV cameras installed on the Egnatia Motorway constitutes a responsibility of the company EGNATIA ODOS A.E., is effected in accordance with the corresponding approved operating procedure and is governed by the relevant provisions of the Greek and European Law.
EGNATIA ODOS A.E. acts as the Controller (within the meaning of article 2 Law 2472/97) of the personal data obtained from the CCTV cameras installed along the Egnatia Motorway for the purposes referred to herein.
It is explicitly stated that EGNATIA ODOS A.E. does not keep a data file for collecting and processing sensitive data within the meaning of article 2, per. 2, L. 2472/1997.
NOTIFICATION BY EOAE REGARDING THE MAINTENANCE OF A CCTV PERSONAL DATA FILE
EGNATIA ODOS A.E. notified the Hellenic Data Protection Authority of the current locations on the Egnatia Motorway where CCTV data will be collected. Information about the exact locations will be made available in the company official website www.egnatia.eu.
RELEVANT SIGNAGE
