For the Design and Construction of works, Egnatia Odos S.A. required at times, hundreds of employees, mainly Engineers of various disciplines, Geologists, Environmentalists, Forest Engineers and other Technical and Administrative personnel.
The technical and contractual management of designs is performed by the company Design Department personnel.
Except for the Egnatia Motorway project, the company’s Design Department also undertook the management of four highways designs in Albania funded by the Greek Government (General Secretariat of International Economic Relations).
Construction works are managed by the company’s Works Division through its Regional Works Management Departments (Epirus, Western Macedonia, Central and Eastern Macedonia, Thrace & Islands). The Works Division activities, in terms of decision-making procedures and project planning, are supported by the Project Manager personnel, the responsibility of which is mainly focused on Quality Assurance and Health & Safety issues.
Construction works are supervised by four Regional Services in Ioannina, Grevena, Derveni in the Prefecture of Thessaloniki and Komotini, and is mainly executed by special EGNATIA ODOS A.E. Construction Management Units. Both the Regional Services and the Construction Management Units were positioned along the road axis on the basis of the geographical terrain and the size of the executed works.
EGNATIA ODOS A.E. is now actively involved in the field of construction management using its own resources. Construction management activities are performed by 300 engineers of different specialties forming eight CM Units located along the Egnatia Motorway axis. The Construction Management Department and its CM Units supervise construction on the basis of approved designs, quality assurance standards, safety criteria for both construction and employees, while safeguarding the solution of engineering problems, the observance of environmental terms, the updating of the project time schedule and the checking of the project bill of quantities.
EGNATIA ODOS A.E. thus expanding its experience and know-how in the construction management of large-scale projects gets ready to provide its services whenever they are needed.
